Southampton Airport Terminal Information
Southampton's new terminal was opened in 1994 and is owned and operated by BAA. In 2003 it saw over 1 million passengers a year. Its passenger numbers are increasing with current passenger levels at 1.5 million per year.

The terminal is well designed as you would expect with a modern airport facility provides good catering and retail facilities plus currency exchange, cash facilities and internet access. The departure lounge has just been redeveloped and is now double the size it was originally was, with new catering facilities, and a seating area away from the boarding gates. There are views of the runway and the Itchen Valley Country Park from the departure lounge. Flight departure information, including flight numbers are displayed on TV monitors located throughout the concourse of the terminal.
Southampton International Airport is a key gateway to central southern England. More than 1.5 million passengers pass through the airport annually. Fourteen airlines serve the airport, with destinations including cities in the UK, Ireland and continental Europe, and flights to Sardinia, Bergerac, Ibiza and Alicante also available. Some major airlines serve the airport, including Flybe, British Airways and Air France.
Southampton has one terminal, with Arrivals situated on the right side of the main concourse, while check-in desks can be found on the left hand side of the main concourse. Most facilities are located on the ground floor, with the first floor merely consisting of the International Departure Lounge and the Aura Café. The airport is efficient and easy to navigate and it even has its own railway station, Southampton Airport Parkway, with fast trains running three times an hour from London Waterloo.
Though the airport is only moderately sized, it still has plenty of facilities for travellers. A bureau de change is located on the main landside concourse before security and ATMs are available next to the bureau de change on the main concourse. Other facilities include a post box, located immediately outside the terminal; a baby care room, situated on the main concourse; and a first aid room, located near the Arrivals exit on the main concourse. Duty-free stores are on hand after you pass through passport control. The shops at the airport sell all kinds of products including books, newspapers, wines, tobacco, perfumes, magazines, snacks, games, electrical goods, clothing and spirits. For food, head to Arrivals where you’ll find a bar and a self-service restaurant. The Aura Café is located on the first floor.
Southampton Airport has a conference centre, providing a wide array of presentation equipment that can be reserved for a whole day or half a day.
Transport and parking at Southampton Airport
Southampton Airport Parkway Station is within walking distance of the terminal. The rail station has up to three trains every hour to London Waterloo and links to many InterCity destinations. Bus services are also offered. Bus number 101 operates between the airport, Southampton University and the city centre, with up to two services an hour during term time. Solent Blue Line and Uni Link also operate a number of services from Southampton Airport Parkway Station . For taxis, head to Airportcarz Southampton, which is located on the main concourse, opposite the Arrivals Hall, and operates 24 hours a day. For short stays, drive to the short-term parking facility, located adjacent to the terminal. Long-term parking is located farther away, but is connected to the terminal by a courtesy shuttle that runs every 10 to 12 minutes. Long-term parking can be pre-booked online.

Getting to Southampton Airport
- Rail - Southampton is the best airport to arrive at by train. It has the shortest plane to train connection of any airport in Europe. In fact it is less than fifty metres from Southampton Airport (Parkway) Station. There are up to 3 trains every hour to and from London Waterloo and fast links to many other InterCity destinations.
- By Car -Southampton airport is just under a mile from the M27 Junction 5 and just under four miles from the centre of Southampton.The M27 is connected to M3 providing easy motorway access.
- By Coach or Bus - Bus route 101 runs a regular service between the airport, university and city centre.
Solent Blue Line and Uni Link also operate a number of services from Southampton Airport (Parkway) Station.If travelling by coach National Express terminal is located in the centre of Southampton so you would then need to connect to the airport by catching the 101.
